How will students be selected?
Students work in flexible groups for English Language Arts interventions. Dr. de St. Croix will work with one first and second grade intervention group to assist with enrichment during these times.
How often will students meet?
Students will meet daily.
What will students be doing?
Students will work on projects infused with enrichment strategies from the English Language Arts curriculum.
How will success be assessed?
Student feedback, teacher feedback, parent feedback, and literacy data will be used to determine the success of the program.
Why focus on the English Language Arts curriculum?
There is district support from the superintendent to focus on the English Language Arts curriculum for this initiative.
What student criteria and processes will be utilized for Project GLOW?
- The GT teacher will complete a Gifted Behaviors Rating Scale with Commentary (GBRSw/C) Form for each student in grades 1 and 2.
- The highest performing intervention group based on measurable data and the GBRS will comprise the first and second grade Project GLOW groups.
- These groups will be flexible as future data is collected (Naglieri, NWEA)
- Dr. de St. Croix will be progress-monitoring student performance on a frequent and ongoing basis and organizing and compiling student data and materials.
- Teachers, students, and parents will have the opportunity to provide feedback.
What are the focus areas students will be working within?
Lessons will be aligned with CCSS and Lexile leveled for rigor and relevance. The topic areas are identity, diversity, justice, and action.
